Today’s post-run shower was brought to me by the kind folks at Pampers’ and their baby wipes 😀 Holy freaking crud monkey it was roasting out there today! My car’s thermostat was registering 34 degrees at lunch, right as I was lacing up for my second lunch run of the week.
My glucometre overheated, it was that hot!
My keys seared my fingers, it was that hot!
My lungs felt as though we were running through a sauna, it was that hot!
It wasn’t the prettiest of runs, but it was a run. Success.

In an effort to cut down on the amount of time it takes me to change out of my work clothes and into my run clothes (squeezing into those no-give sports bras is no quick task let me just say!) I made a few alterations to my work attire this morning. I picked a skirt and matching top. Under the top, was my sports bra, and under my skirt, my shorts, which meant I only had my running shirt, hat and shoes to fiddle with come noon.
In theory, it was a great idea, but in reality, it had a few hiccups. You read how hot it was above right, well, today, the day I omitted the cool airiness of my skirts, was also the day the AC at work decided to crap out. I was sweating hours before I even started that bloody run.
And then there was the matter of my blood sugars. Before leaving work, they were 7.4. Seconds before the run, they were 6.0. At face value, that’s not a huge drop, but given that it had gone down like that in a matter of minutes, I wanted to air on the safe side, which meant I had to eat a snack before the run, and the only thing I had on hand were Sezme Snacks, which meant a few minutes picking at my teeth before being comfortable enough to start running. So yeah, I didn’t really cut any time at all.
